My Chemical Romance have officially made their musical return ahead of their reunion shows and no one can handle it.

Get the eyeliner out PRONTO.

The band, fronted by Gerard Way, announced their comeback in 2019, with their shows being delayed by Covid-19.

However, as their shows in the UK approach, the band have thrilled fans by dropping a new song, The Foundations of Decay.

The six-minute offering is the band’s first release since 2014, with the stars never previously confirming whether their reunion would also mark a musical comeback.

Playing it very chill, the band – Gerard and Mikey Way, Frank Iero and Ray Toro – simply announced the new release by sharing a link on social media.

Safe to say, fans are over the moon.

‘My chemical romance dropping new music in 2022 might actually save this decade,’ one said, while another said: ‘Did it hurt? when my chemical romance released an absolute banger out of nowhere and made us all go completely insane?’

One more added: ‘I cannot believe that my chemical romance just dropped a song out of nowhere. absolutely no build up to the release at all and it’s still sending every fan into a frenzy.’

MCR previously admitted they were overwhelmed by the fan response to their comeback, which kicked off with a reunion show in Los Angeles.

They said on Instagram: ‘It is truly unbelievable to us the happiness we have experienced over the past two days.

‘From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the warm welcome back. We truly did not expect this. See you soon. Xoxo, MCR.’

This year marks 20 years (feeling old yet?) since the band’s debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.

They’re perhaps best known for their iconic concept album Welcome To The Black Parade. They originally announced their split in 2013.

Aside from MCR, Gerard is the creator of the comic books behind The Umbrella Academy.
