Sony Music Group has hired Tiffany R. Warren, an advertising executive who has worked to promote diversity across media industries for more than two decades, as its first-ever executive vp, chief diversity and inclusion officer.
Warren moves over from more than 10 years as Omnicom Group’s global chief diversity officer. In her new role, she will expand equity and inclusion activities and policies across all of Sony Music Group’s (SMG) global recorded music, publishing and corporate divisions, reporting directly to SMG chairman Rob Stringer. She’ll work in tandem with SMG’s human resources department as well as its social justice task forces and philanthropy efforts in areas like creating equitable hiring and promotion practices, diversifying business partnerships and setting up regular, company-wide diversity and equity reports.

The announcement follows the launch of SMG’s $100 million fund to support global social justice and anti-racist initiatives back in June.
Warren comes from a more than 23-year career in media, during which she has continuously championed diversity. While at Omnicom, she created and implemented the Omnicom People Engagement Network (OPEN) — a framework for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the company’s culture and work with clients, and more than doubled multicultural representation within the company’s officer and manager ranks.
She is also the founder of ADCOLOR, an organization which promotes greater diversity in advertising, marketing, media and tech; and launched the Most Promising University within the American Advertising Federation, which has mentored more than 350 multicultural students from across the country since its founding in 2013.

With the announcement, all three major music groups now have an executive role dedicated to diversity and inclusion. Universal Music Group tapped former NBA executive Eric Hutcherson for the newly-created role of executive vp and chief people and inclusion officer in September, and Warner Music Group named diversity executive Dr. Maurice Stinnett its head of global equity, diversity and inclusion in August.Credit: Original article published here.
