Steps have announced a new album named What the Future Holds, and it only feels like five minutes ago they released debut album Step One.

(Actually, that was 22 years ago).

The band – comprised of Lisa-Scott Lee, Lee Evans, Claire Richards, Faye Tozer and Ian ‘H’ Watkins – announced the news on Twitter on Monday.

In a group message, they said: ‘We couldn’t keep it a secret any longer!!

‘Our new album What The Future Holds arrives on November 27th, and it’s available to pre-order from 8am tomorrow.’

Claire also shared the news on her personal Twitter account, saying: ‘It’s been a long time coming but we are so proud to present the next chapter to the Steps story.’

The band have so far released five studio albums, the last being 2017’s Tears On the Dancefloor, which reached number two in the UK album charts.

The band enjoyed a string of 14 uninterrupted top five hits on the UK singles charts from 1998 to 2001, including classics like Heartbeat, Stomp and their cover of the Bee Gees’ Tragedy.

The comeback follows Claire saying last year that she’d love to work with music producer extraordinaire Calvin Harris, but that she doesn’t think Steps are ‘cool’ enough.

‘The charts are heavily led by the whole feature thing at the moment’, she told the Press Assocation.

‘There’s so many who are so good at it like Clean Bandit and Sigala and Calvin Harris. ‘Those types of people are amazing but we’re just not cool enough. It would be great. That would shock everybody, wouldn’t it? Steps and Calvin Harris. It would be really good, I’m sure.’
