You can hire a human-sized Barbie beach house to live out your childhood fantasies

For many, a Barbie house was the dream toy when they were growing up.

The iconic dolls seemed to be sold out by Christmas every year, and only certain lucky children got a Barbie house or car under the tree from Santa.

But if you weren’t one of those lucky ones, you don’t have to retire your ‘life in plastic’ dream.

A real Barbie beach house is now up for rent, giving fans of all ages the chance to experience what it’d be like to be the world’s best-known doll.

Giggster – a company specialising in filming locations – is offering wannabe Barbies a holiday of a lifetime, renting out a home inspired by the toy for short lets.

In sunny Santa Monica, California, the property is decorated in her signature pink hue, with bright furnishings to match the ’90s aesthetic of the original.

Guests can enjoy the house’s swimming pool and hot tub, as well as a bar, outside basketball area, home gym, and beach access (if they fancy emulating Barbie’s surfer pal, Skipper).

From the technicolour kitchen to the kitsch wall murals, it’s like stepping into another dimension, with retro fixtures like lava lamps bringing you right back to your childhood.

With many of us wanting to make 2022 a year to remember, this is the perfect opportunity to hire a beach house fit for any Barbie fanatic. It will cost you, though.

It’s not cheap, though, at over £400 an hour (Picture: Giggster)

The house can accommodate up to 60 people, costing from $570 (£429) an hour for a minimum of 10 hours. So – quick maths – a one-night stay will set you back $5,700 (£4,290).

If a full break isn’t in your budget, you could always give it a go for a special event or party.

Just make sure you bring your best Barbie girl outfits, because the photoshoot opportunities are endless.
