Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean was left horrified in rehearsals when his pro partner Cheryl Burke landed on her head in a brutal fall.
On last night’s show, the dancer was seen bashing her head off the ballroom floor in a rehearsal on Sunday evening.
AJ, who also tumbled when the pair lost their footing, was then seen crawling over to his partner as she laid sprawled out on the floor and medics rushed in.
In a state of shock as he spoke to the cameras, AJ said: ‘Cheryl and I were practicing during stage rehearsal and it did not go well.
‘It happened so fast, I just heard her head hit the floor.’
Cheryl was put on immediate rest to deal with a possible concussion, leaving the duo’s position on the show up in the air as it was so close to the live show.
Thankfully, she is an absolute trooper, and later assured fans she was fine by writing online: ‘It was a tough 24 hours but I’m so grateful to have the support from AJ, the rest of the [Dancing With The Stars] crew, and all of you guys at home. Feeling lucky to be a part of tonight’s show!!’
In the Halloween special of the US version of Strictly, AJ and Cheryl secured their place for another weeks with a tango inspired by Psycho’s Norman Bates.
Performing to Psycho by Intermezzo Orchestra, the pair impressed the judges with a near flawless routine – and despite everyone being terrified the accident would happen again live on air.
They earned 26/30 for their performance.
However, Cheer’s Monica Aldama and pro Val Chmerkovskiy were eliminated after their routine inspired by Netflix series Ratched, with the judges opting to save TV host Jeannie Mai and pro Brandon Armstrong instead.
Dancing With The Stars airs Mondays on ABC in the US.
