Great British Bake Off viewers are living for Lottie’s sass after Paul Hollywood suggested her caged tart ‘didn’t fit the brief’.

The shade of it all.

The 31-year-old was taking no prisoners for pastry week, coming prepared with the dictionary definition of the word ‘tart’ and ready to fight her own corner.

While Paul and Prue Leith weren’t convinced by her showstopper tart, which didn’t have sides, in Lottie’s book it was still fair game, considering the word generally refers to the flat pastry.

‘The tart itself – I questioned whether it would be a tart without sides,’ Paul said, with Prue branding it: ‘Very squidgy.’

‘That tastes absolutely beautiful, but it does look a right mess,’ Prue added.

Paul went on to tell her: ‘All the independent flavours are very, very good, all the textures are good, what you’ve made is very good, but is it the brief is my question?’

On her way back to her station, Lottie gave her fellow bakers an incredible grimace – and people are obsessed.

‘Lottie’s utter disdain for Paul is my favourite thing to happen in 2020,’ one wrote, while another declared: ‘paul banging on about ‘is it a tart if it doesn’t have sides?’ LOTTIE OPENED THE DICTIONARY UP AND TOLD YOU WHAT A TART WAS BE QUIET BOOMER.’

‘Lottie rolling her eyes at paul hahaha i love her,’ one more said.

Elsewhere in the episode, she admitted she was ‘just finding new ways to make scrambled egg’ – so at least she’s honest.

It wasn’t all bad news for Lottie in this week’s episode, as Paul and Prue dubbed her pyramid cage in the showstopper challenge ‘sensational’ and ‘exceptional’, with the baker making it through to the next week of the competition.

It ended up being Linda who was sent home, after she suffered a fair few baking disasters, while Laura was crowned Star Baker.

It’s not the first time Lottie’s provided some top quality Bake Off sass, previously presenting the judges with brownies that had been covered in ‘wet freezer juice’.

After serving up brownies that looked like ‘an actual car crash’ (her words, not ours), Paul told her: ‘Flavours ok, texture is all wrong and the presentation is terrible’.

Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
