Chris Packham and his step-daughter Megan McCubbin are returning to our screens this summer for a brand new BBC series.
The new programme, Chris & Meg’s Wild Summer, will see the duo embark on an epic summer road trip across the country in a bid to encounter some incredible wildlife.
Chris is a veteran naturalist, having presented Springwatch every year since 2009.
Last year, at the height of the lockdown, Chris had to film his yearly show from his own home and introduced his step-daughter Megan to the programme.
Megan – who is also a zoologist – immediately became a fan favourite, with the odd couple going on to do more presenting gigs together.
Their upcoming road trip will be the perfect chance to reminisce about the wildlife encounters they shared when Megan was young when she learnt to share her stepdad’s passion for the natural world.

The duo set off in their electric campervan going across the UK to travel through some of the country’s last untouched wildernesses, journeying through the untamed beauty of Wales, the North of England and Scotland.
Amidst awe-inspiring backdrops, Chris and Megan will encounter puffins in Pembrokeshire, red kites and sand lizards in Snowdonia, swim with grey seals in Northumberland, and hope for a rare glimpse of orcas in the Western Isles.
During their travels, Chris and Meg will also reflect on what these places mean to them as the dwindling wild spaces in Britain face rapid change and increasing danger, putting more pressure on the need for conservation.
Spending a lot of time together in the campervan, the pair will also get a chance to reflect on their own stepfather-daughter relationship.
In a summer when most Britons are spending their summer exploring the local countryside, six half-hour episodes Chris & Meg’s Wild Summer will bring a timely exploration of the natural wonders that the UK has to offer and the abundant native wildlife right on our doorstep.

‘The UK is a remarkable place to find wildlife and it’s only a weekend away!’ said Chris. ‘Megs and I have always been up for an adventure, some great wildlife and an ice cream, so this sometimes hectic, always eclectic and wholly electric trip around our great-green backyard was bound to be a winner.
‘We go, we see, we eat vegan sarnies and we savour the best of the UK’s wild spots and wildlife. Throw in some punk rock, vintage summer wear and the binoculars and you’ve got a road trip with a recipe for success!’
Megan also added: ‘I am so excited to share this series with viewers – it’s a “wild summer” with a difference!
‘With wildlife at its heart, Chris and I travel the length of the UK exploring its natural and cultural wonders and discuss important topics that make us who we are. Everything from modern families, neurodiversity and the health of our environment.’
Chris & Meg’s Wild Summer will premiere on BBC Two and iPlayer on Sunday 29 August at 8.30pm.
