Dancing on Ice professional skater Matt Evers has paid tribute to his partner Denise Van Outen ahead of tonight’s launch show after she was treated in hospital following a nasty fall.
It recently emerged that Denise, 46, was rushed to A&E after tumbling face first during rehearsals, resulting in her suffering ‘partial dislocation and tendon damage’ in her left shoulder.
While it’s not yet been confirmed whether Denise will be able to take to the ice tonight, sources have told Metro.co.uk that they are hopeful she will appear.
Ahead of the first episode of the 2021 series of Dancing on Ice, her partner Matt, 44, congratulated her on coming ‘a long way’ since they began training.
‘You’ve come a long way baby! Tonight @vanouten_denise is the night!’ he wrote on Instagram.
Matt stated that out of the 13 celebrities he has been paired with on Dancing on Ice throughout the years, having been on every series since it began in 2006, Denise is ‘the most improved star’ in his eyes.
‘Proof that through hard work and dedication you can make a change and even learn to skate,’ he said.
Following the news that she had been sent to hospital for her injury, West End star Denise shared photographs on Instagram showing the aftermath of the fall.
In one of the pictures, the presenter can be seen inhaling gas and air as her dislocated shoulder was put back into place.
‘Told you I’m clumsy on the ice!’ she wrote in the caption.
The actor and singer thanked Matt ‘for being a true friend and taking care of me and making me laugh when I feel like crying’.
Although it hasn’t been announced whether Denise will be fit to perform tonight, she said that she and Matt have made adjustments to their routine to ease the strain on her shoulder.
Other stars taking part in this year’s series of Dancing on Ice include Myleene Klass, Jason Donovan and Rebekah Vardy.
Dancing on Ice launches tonight at 6pm on ITV.
