Love Island bombshell Danny Bibby’s father has insisted his son ‘doesn’t have a racist bone in his body’ after he used the n-word in an Instagram comment.
However, shortly after Danny was confirmed as the latest addition to the villa, internet sleuths found a comment in which the 25-year-old used a racist slur.
In a now-deleted post from November 2019, Danny responded to a friend, who was white, who commented on a picture of him in Dubai.
The original comment read: ‘Champ’, with Danny replying: ‘My n***a.’
Screenshots and recordings made their way onto social media, with one person writing: ‘This new Danny guy?! Excuse me? Just cancel this season immediately.’
Others accused ITV of not doing enough research on the islanders, while others were outraged that Kaz was being sent on a date with a man who had publicly used a racist slur.
When contacted by metro.co.uk, ITV issued a statement from Danny’s father, who apologised for any offence caused and insisted that his son did not use the slur ‘maliciously’.
His dad Richard said: ‘Danny does not have a racist bone in his body and there were no racist intentions to this post. Although it was not done maliciously, it was a mistake.
‘I absolutely apologise on his behalf for the offence this wording may have caused. That would never have been his intention.’
Danny is a plumber from Wigan who hopes to launch his own clothing brand called Kramclo.
He said: ‘I love fashion and getting ready. I like looking smart and wearing designer clothes. That’s my thing.
‘The first lockdown hit. Before that I never would really have the time because I’m working all the time. I’m a very motivated and ambitious guy.
‘So I had a lot of time off and set up the clothing brand with a friend. We’re in the process of launching it now.’
Calling himself an ‘alpha male’, Danny said: ‘The girls have Faye who says it how it is but the lads are all like little sheep.
‘My dad would say I’ve got no filter. I’ll say whatever comes to mind – bad or good.’
Danny said that he is so far attracted to Kaz, the newly single Lucinda Strafford and Sharon Gaffka, saying: ‘Lucinda is my type – nice eyes and tanned.
‘Sharon is nice. I like Kaz’s vibe. Kaz is bubbly like me so I think we’d get on like a house on fire.’
