Garrett Lockhart, best known DJ i_o, has died at the age of 30.
The cause of death is not yet known.
The news comes just 10 days after he returned to performing live music, after coronavirus restrictions began to be lifted.
In a statement released to his social media accounts, the EDM music producer died on Monday, with friends and family remembering him as someone who ‘led with love’.
It read: ‘On Monday, November 23rd, the world lost a beautiful soul, Garrett Falls Lockhart, also known as i_o.
‘This extremely talented spirit taught us that even if nothing matters, you can still lead with love.
‘Garrett’s truth and soul lives on through the music he shared.
‘Rest in peace Garrett. We love you.’
In the star’s short but illustrious career, he collaborated with some of the giants of the genre, including deadmau5 and Grimes.
His final single, Castles In The Sky, was released just three days before his death.
Collaborators, friends and family of i_o, including deadmau5 were quick to share their condolences online, and grieved the loss of a star who was still on the rise.
