Doctor Who stars Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are leaving the series, making their final appearances in the upcoming festive special.

Bradley, who plays Graham O’Brien, and Tosin, who plays Ryan Sinclair, are leaving the sci-fi after two years of starring alongside Mandip Gill and Jodie Whittaker.

The Chase host Bradley described the final episode as ‘very, very dramatic’.

‘It is very sad. It is quite sad and poignant is the word. You can expect a lot of poignancy from the episode,’ he explained.

He added that working in Wales with the crew has been a highlight.

‘I have absolutely loved it, loved it. Wales has become like a second home to me and being included in something so iconic and ground breaking with the advent of having a female Doctor, that whole thing where [Chris] Chibnall sold that to me, it didn’t disappoint and I loved working with those guys,’ he pointed out.

‘I love working with Chris Chibnall, that man is a genius but to also be working with Mandip and Tosin and of course Jodie is just extraordinary.’

As for what he’s going to miss, he explained: ‘Everyone and everything. We are now in constant contact, texting, Whatsapping. I miss them all. I was texting the location guys across the airwaves. Happy days. Fantastic memories. Our times abroad, when we were in Spain, South Africa. I just loved it.’

Tosin agreed that filming the special was ’emotional,’ adding; ‘I was looking forward to having a rest though!’

He revealed he’s going to miss too many things to list, saying: ‘It has to be the team on the screen and behind it as well as the amazing fans. It’s been an honour to work on such a cultural institution with fans across the world.

‘The people like me on the screen come and go, but it’s the people behind the scenes and the fans that will always be there keeping the Doctor Who world alive and exciting.’

Mandip will be staying on as Yaz Khan, alongside Jodie as the Doctor.

It’s been speculated over the past year that the pair would be bidding farewell to Who after the special, with both of them juggling busy schedules.

Bradley, 60, hosts The Chase, and has his travel show with his son Barney.

Meanwhile, Tosin, 28, has landed a role in the Michael B Jordan produced American TV series 61st Street, starring in the leading role of Moses Johnson – a high school athlete who is ‘caught up in the corrupt Chicago justice system.’

The duo joined Doctor Who in 2018, first appearing in The Woman Who Fell To Earth, Jodie’s first full episode as the Doctor.

In the series, Graham is Ryan’s step-grandfather, with the two characters being bonded immediately as a result of the death of Grace (Sharon D Clarke), Ryan’s grandmother.

While fans will definitely be sad to see them go, the pair are set to have one final adventure, as they take on the Doctor’s most terrifying enemy in the festive special, Revolution of the Daleks.

Joined by the returning Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), they’ve got to figure out a way to save her and fight the Daleks all in one go – not an easy feat!

Revolution of the Daleks will air over the festive period on BBC One.
