Spoilers for season 2 of Emily in Paris to follow.

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins has speculated on her character’s age before, but the newest batch of episodes has finally put a number on exactly how old Emily Cooper is.

The show dropped on Netflix on Wednesday morning, picking up shortly after season one’s dramatic end saw Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) decide to remain in the French capital.

But as Emily tries to ignore her feelings for the dishy chef, things get more and more complicated, all leading up to the marketing whizz’s birthday.

One thing though fans have questioned in the meantime is exactly how old their new favourite American in Paris actually is.

Lily, 32, gave her own thoughts on how old her alter-ego was in an interview last year.

‘I don’t believe we’ve ever given her a specific “number” for her age, but I believe that she’s pretty fresh out of college,’ she said.

‘Maybe this is her first year after graduation. I want to say she’s like, 22-ish,’ Lily previously told Vogue.

‘She’s had enough experience at her company in Chicago to have earned the respect of her boss.

‘She’s gone to school for this, and she’s completed internships…’ the star added, seemingly brushing off the idea she was educated to a masters level.

However, fans weren’t so sure Emily, due to her prior mentioned academic qualifications and experience in the industry meaning she had to be at least a couple of years older.

But finally, the mystery of Emily’s age was solved in episode three of season two, on her birthday.

When Emily is strolling through a shopping mall the message ’29 years jeune, Happy Birthday @EmilyInParis!’ pops up from one of her followers.

The Easter egg style moment flashes up on-screen for just a few seconds, but finally gives us our answer.

Emily’s also inundated with birthday wishes from the likes of Camille (Camille Razat), best friend Mindy (Ashley Park) and her colleagues.

Despite Emily deciding on quite a discrete celebration, with just her nearest and dearest, things soon get very tense when Camille makes a discovery.

The inevitable revelation of Gabriel’s feelings towards Emily finally comes out, meaning curtains – for now – for her friendship with Camille.

However, the titular character also told Mindy her latest was a ‘nothing birthday…’

This means hopefully we’ll get a big 3-0 celebration for Emily in season three, promising even more fireworks than her last.

Emily In Paris season two is now streaming on Netflix.
