As one of the faces of Good Morning Britain, when Susanna Reid is absent from the ITV programme, it immediately fuels questions from viewers.
It was recently announced that the show is facing a significant shake-up throughout the festive period, with several shows axed as a result of fears over the Covid-19 outbreak.
While a special instalment of the series will still air on Christmas Day, the episodes from December 29 to December 31 have been dropped, with a spokesperson confirming that the decision was made due to ‘the pandemic and to protect our teams’.
Ahead of the hiatus, why has Susanna not been seen on GMB as of late?
Over the past year, Susanna has presented with several different co-hosts following the controversial departure of Piers Morgan.
Why is Susanna Reid not on Good Morning Britain today?
With Christmas just a few days away, it’s believed that Susanna is taking a break from work for the holidays to spend time with her family.
The broadcaster celebrated her birthday on December 10, sharing a selfie with her mum on Instagram to mark the occasion.
‘THANK YOU! To my lovely Mum for 51 years (and to my Daddy too!) and to everyone who has sent gorgeous birthday messages,’ she wrote in the caption.
The presenter shares three sons with her former husband, journalist Dominic Cotton, to whom she was married for 16 years until 2014.
This week, Adil Ray has been joined at the GMB desk with fellow host Charlotte Hawkins.
On Tuesday, Adil announced that he was presenting his final show of the year, with Richard Bacon set to return as a guest presenter on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, Susanna accused the government of ‘gaslighting’ after watching the leaked video of officials laughing and joking about a Christmas party which they have denied took place.
She also applauded Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for mocking the controversy during their presenting stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
