Viewers of The Great British Bake Off: Best Bits were loving reminiscing over past series, especially remembering 2016 contestant Val Stones’ time on the show.
The highlights show, which aired on Tuesday evening, looked back at legendary moments from the Bake Off’s history, including the inception of the Hollywood Handshake as well as ‘Custard-gate’, but the one segment viewers could not get over was looking back at Val’s time on the show.
Val, who appeared on the show four years ago, amused viewers by listening to her cakes and performing aerobics while baking.
Singing ‘Move a little, lose a lot’, Val showed viewers her exercises to work off the pounds while in the kitchen, as well as revealing some of her innovative tools she uses to bake.
As well as repurposing a (clean) broomstick as a rolling pin, Val also revealed that she likes to cut her roulade with dental floss to get a cleaner slice than she would get with a knife.
Viewers were loving seeing the substitute teacher from Yeovil again, and took to Twitter to share their joy.
They tweeted: ‘Oh I loved Val, she was an absolute superstar!!!’ and ‘Please give Val her own spin off!’
Others added: ‘Oh Jesus I’m crying over Val,’ ‘Val is a national treasure’ and ‘val is my favourite woman to ever exist’.
Some dubbed her the ‘most iconic contestant bake off has ever had’, while others called for her to appear on the show every single year.
Val ended up being the fifth baker to leave the tent on the seventh series of Bake Off, after struggling through pastry week.
However, she’s managed to rack up an impressive amount of fans on social media, with over 65,000 followers on Instagram – and it looks like she’ll probably end up with a few more after this, too.
