After a video surfaced showing Love Island star Haris Namani pounding a man to the ground in a street brawl, his father stepped out in his defence.
The Sun published a video this week purportedly showing 21-year-old TV salesperson Haris battling with another man in the street after a night out. The incident allegedly took place last year.
The islander’s father, Mehedin Namani, has stated that the video is two years old and that the rift between his son and the other guy has been mended.
‘They’re friends, they shook hands,’ Mr. Namani added. “This happened a long time ago; it’s nothing at this point.”
He went on to say: ‘He’s not a bad boy, he’s got a good record. He’s been brought up in the right way.’
He added to MailOnline: ‘This is just people who are jealous and they want to put him down.’
A friend of Haris’s has also claimed that the incident was the result of a ‘misunderstanding’, and that no animosity exists between the two parties.
‘The kid who Haris punched is okay with him now,’ they told the publication.
’It was a misunderstanding at that time. If you were speak with the kid who it was, the kid would not have anything bad to say about Haris.’
The reality star and the other partygoer can be seen in the footage locking horns and trading punches.
In the end, Haris punches the other man in the chest, causing him to lose his balance and sending him tumbling to the ground.
He can be heard saying, “I’m not a bully, I’m not a f***ing bully!” during the conflict.
A Love Island representative previously told the media, ‘Language and behaviour in the Villa is always closely monitored, and islanders are reminded of what we consider acceptable during their time on the show.
‘Extensive duty of care protocols for all islanders includes video training and guidance covering language and behaviour.’
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
