Sir Mo Farah’s wife has revealed the Olympian’s greatest fear days after he entered Gwrych Castle in Wales for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020.
When the line-up for this year’s I’m A Celebrity was announced, many fans of the show likely thought Sir Mo would be one of the most fearless contestants, what with his experience competing as an athlete on the world stage.
However, there is just one thing that his wife Tania Nell says he wouldn’t be able to cope with… and it’s a fear he shares with one of his fellow campmates.
On Monday evening’s episode of I’m A Celebrity, viewers saw BBC Radio 1 DJ Jordan conquer his fear of snakes alongside Eastenders star Shane Richie, Jordan screaming about his ‘happy place’ as he and Shane managed to get their hands on nine stars for the camp.
But Jordan isn’t the only star on this year’s series with a mortifying fear of snakes – as they’re Sir Mo greatest fear too.
While speaking on This Morning on Wednesday morning, Tania explained that Sir Mo had been feeling ‘pretty chilled’ about going on I’m A Celebrity up until a couple of days beforehand when he was in isolation.
‘Suddenly it hit him that he was going in and he started getting really nervous. Up until then he was really chilled about it,’ she said, while video chatting with Phillip Schofield and Alison Hammond with her children sitting next to her.
When asked by Phillip what Sir Mo’s biggest fear is, she replied straight away, stating: ‘Definitely the snakes.’
‘I let slip to the producers when they came to check on us in isolation that he’s scared of snakes, and I thought he’d already told them that, and obviously he hadn’t,’ she said.
‘He was really annoyed that I told them. He said, ‘Well that’s it, they’re going to give me snakes now.’
Fortunately for Sir Mo, the public voted for Jordan and Shane to do the Viper Vault challenge.
However, Phillip speculated that I’m A Celebrity viewers may now vote for the athlete if another snake challenge comes up in the show.
Rhianna, Sir Mo’s 15-year-old stepdaughter, also chimed in, saying she ‘wasn’t expecting much’ from Sir Mo when he joined the show.
‘He was quite nervous going in. He was only nervous because of snakes, and I did think he’d get selected for that. When he didn’t I was quite surprised but sort of disappointed,’ the teenager admitted.
‘I want to see him in there so badly,’ she added.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on ITV tonight at 9pm.
