On Friday 4 December, the final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 took place at Gwrych Castle in Wales.
A couple of days ago, Vernon and Tess were finally reunited after spending five weeks apart, as Vernon had to be isolation for over two weeks before starting the show.
Reminiscing on her husband’s time in the castle, Tess said she found it weird to hear him talking about her on TV.
‘I’d been barely sleeping because I was so into it, I woke up dreaming that I was doing trials,’ she told Metro newspaper for Sixty Seconds. ‘I’ve laughed, cried and heaved with them.’
Tess, 51, added that she doesn’t think she’d ‘last two minutes’ doing the gruesome trials.
‘Hooves and giblets dropped on your head? How could you cope? And all those creepy-crawlies, I’m just so squeamish. I wouldn’t last two minutes. Hats off to them,’ she said.
The Strictly presenter said that while I’m A Celeb had reached out to Vernon, 46, in the past, ‘the time was right this year’.
‘Sadly he didn’t get to sunbathe in a hammock in Australia but I think he was secretly quite pleased about that, as was I, because he was only a few hours up the road rather than on the other side of the world,’ she stated.
Before he and Tess could reunite following the I’m A Celeb final, Vernon had to wait and watch Strictly first, as his wife was busy hosting the BBC programme.
Sharing a picture on Instagram of his spouse on TV, Vernon wrote: ‘Hurry home @tessdaly!! @bbcstrictly what a show.’
Since reuniting, Tess has revealed she’s busy ‘feeding up’ her husband after he lost two stone during his time in camp.
‘Vern told me he’s lost 30lbs in weight. So I’ve been shopping to get some of his fave foods ready for his return… mostly meat, chocolate, and of course his favourite @yorkshiretea bags,’ she wrote on Instagram.
The 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity is available to watch on ITV Player.
