I’m A Celebrity 2021: Dan Walker expresses devastation as Louise Minchin is eliminated

Dan Walker has shared his utter disappointment after his former BBC Breakfast colleague Louise Minchin became the latest star to be eliminated from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here 2021.

On tonight’s show, Louise was revealed to be the fifth celebrity voted out of the competition, telling presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly that she ‘couldn’t wait’ to go home.

Describing the show as ‘life changing’, the journalist said: ‘I’ve learned so much about myself, I’ve learned how to deal with difficult situations.’

While she was more than happy to return to life in the real world, Strictly Come Dancing star Dan was hoping to see more of her in the castle ahead of Sunday’s final.

Responding to a tweet about her exit, he wrote: ‘NOOOOO!!! Put her back in,’ alongside a starry-eyed emoji.

One I’m A Celeb viewer responded to Dan’s tweet revealing that they gave all of their votes to Louise every night, adding: ‘I can’t believe she’s gone!’

‘Gutted for her… Louise was my winner. She’s had all my votes… fabulous from day one. What a fantastic woman!!!’ another wrote.

Someone else suggested that next year, Dan and Louise should swap reality shows, with the latter going on Strictly and the former giving I’m A Celeb a shot.

If we’re being honest, we’d love to see that happen!

Following Louise’s departure, those running her Instagram account expressed their pride in a post, sharing a picture of the I’m A Celeb stars taking a selfie during their Christmas party.

‘What an incredible journey. We couldn’t be any prouder and are so excited to have Louise home,’ they said.

‘Thank you so much for everyone’s support we are so glad everyone has been able to see the kind hearted, generous and positive person she is.’

In June, it was announced that Louise had quit her role on BBC Breakfast after 20 years.

Dan paid tribute to his co-host at the time, tweeting: ‘As with everything she does… Louise announces her departure from the show with dignity and class.

‘We will all miss her enormously at #BBCBreakfast. She is not only wonderful at her job… she is a great friend. Enjoy your lie-ins @louiseminchin.’

I’m A Celebrity returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
