Simon Gregson’s wife Emma Gleave has spoken about his stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! so far – and she readily admitted that she’s been voting for him to do every trial.
The Coronation Street star is one of the campmates who returned to the Gwrych Castle last night after being evacuated over the weekend due to horrendous storm damage.
Simon enjoyed a traumatic start to life on the show after taking on the Castle Scare Fair challenge, which saw his neck locked in perspex boxes, as dozens of snakes were dropped onto his head.
Now, after days of isolation in relative comfort, he could face more trials inside the camp with his Lord of the Castle title set to be revoked.
If Emma gets her way, he’ll be the first in line to take on a trial.
Appearing on Lorraine this morning, Emma was asked by host Lorraine Kelly whether she thought he’d be taking on trials in the near future.
‘I hope so!’ she replied.
When asked if she’d been voting for him to take part in every trial so far, she added: ‘Absolutely, yeah! That’s the reason he’s in there.’
Emma also said that she thinks he’s doing well in the camp, saying: ‘When I saw him first on screen the other day, I actually did think he looked more relaxed than I thought he would do.’
She added: ‘We never really spend time apart to be honest, or we at least speak to each other. It’s a running joke with my friends, that if my phone rings it’s always Simon on the end of it because he rings me constantly all day every day.
‘So for him to be taken from the outside world, it has been a little bit strange – I like it a little bit, I’m not going to lie. But we are missing him a lot.’
Meanwhile, Steve recently admitted he ‘hated’ the fame that came with joining Coronation Street and still does, 32 years later.
He recalled joining the show at the age of 14 as one of the McDonald twins after casting directors visited his school, and thought ‘I’m going to check this out!’.
But despite his career being made on the show, Simon admitted: ‘It was difficult for a while to adjust. This isn’t what I planned for myself and I do not like it’.
‘I hated it,’ he revealed. ‘The fame side of it I hated it. I still don’t [like it].’
The actor, 47, said when he was younger he ‘wanted to join the military or race cars’ but added: ‘I’ve never done anything but play Steve. It’s the only thing I’ve ever done.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is available to watch on ITV and ITV Hub.
