You need a fair amount of luck to do well on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, and a contestant had it in bucket loads after Jeremy Clarkson helped them win £64,000 on Saturday’s show.
Somebi, a brewer from Camden, was faced with a tricky question on the programme and thought his options were running out.
The question read: ‘Which is the only surviving species of bear native to South America?’
The options were sun bear, spectacled bear, black bear and brown bear.
As his other lifelines had come and gone, and he had no idea himself, Somebi was left with no option but to ask the host.
While it was the last throw of the dice for Somebi, Jeremy had some insider information that proved invaluable in choosing the correct answer.
‘You lucky, lucky man,’ Jeremy said, before revealing that he had in fact been to South America to film a documentary all about the spectacled bear – and in a miraculous turn of events, he even took a photograph of the bear in the wild himself.
What are the odds?
Somebi gratefully selected the right answer, which guaranteed him a prize fund of £64,000.
It’s one of Jeremy’s finest moments on the show since taking over as host in 2018 – and proof that it’s always worth contestants picking his brains now and again.
It comes after Jeremy appeared to reveal that Clarkson’s Farm has not been renewed for a second series by Amazon Prime Video, despite it being one of the most popular streaming platform.
He didn’t stop there, either. The presenter has also urged fans to complain to Amazon to try and convince them to bring it back.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? airs on Saturdays at 9pm on ITV.
