John Lewis has finally revealed this year’s highly-anticipated Christmas advert, and its ‘heartwarming message’ had viewers in floods of tears.
The advert celebrates little acts of kindness, and the efforts of the everyday heroes who have kept us going in a global pandemic.
It’s struck a chord with social media users, who believe Christmas can now ‘start properly’ after the ad was revealed earlier today.
‘Just watched the #JohnLewis Christmas ad. I’m not crying, you are,’ one wrote.
‘The John Lewis Christmas advert is incredibly sweet and carries a lovely heartwarming message to give a little love,’ another added.
‘John Lewis Christmas ad got me wanting to cry at 8am,’ another emotional viewer said.
The emotional new clip focuses on a boy whose ball is stuck up in a tree. A girl helps him to retrieve it with a heart-shaped umbrella, with the clip then showing a series of kind acts.
It features Brit Award winner Celeste singing an original track, Give A Little Love.
The advert is always one of the most anticipated TV moments in the run up to Christmas, but it was nearly scrapped completely this year following the pandemic.
It was only after speaking to charities FareShare and and Home-Start, charities who work to tackle child poverty and support families, that a new direction for the ad was then realised.
The John Lewis Christmas Advert will make its televised debut on The Voice UK final on Saturday from 7pm.
