Line of Duty cast bust-ups! Vicky McClure spills the tea (Picture: BBC)
Of course the Line of Duty cast has had fall-outs, according to Vicky McClure, after filming six high-pressured series of the Jed Mercurio drama together while living in each other’s pockets for months.
The 37-year-old stars as DI Kate Fleming in the blistering BBC thriller alongside Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar as DS Steve Arnott and Supt Ted Hastings respectively, with the trio sometimes living in the same accommodation and regularly hitting local curry houses with writer Jed Mercurio in between making comical TikTok videos on set.
Basically, when filming Line of Duty, they’re as tight as it gets.
With that comes the odd spat, admitted Vicky, who compared her cast mates to ‘family’.
‘You can have a laugh and if anything it’s Adie who gets the brunt of it having to put up with me and Martin acting like a pair of school kids around him,’ she told The Mirror. ‘There’s a perfect dynamic.
‘The reality of it is of course we have, of course we have p***** each other off. It would be wrong of me to say “that has never happened” as that would be a lie.’
She continued: ‘But in the same way it is with family, it’s never something so bad it’s not repairable. I might not have had any sleep that night.’
However, Vicky stressed the odd bicker comes with filming long hours, having ‘loads of lines to learn’ and being ‘knackered’.
Line of Duty broke its own record with the series six launch being the show’s biggest premiere to date, becoming the third most-watched programme of the year with almost 10million overnight viewers.
It was a stellar return to form for the thriller as we were introduced to DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald), described as AC-12’s most ‘enigmatic adversary’ yet, proven as she raised endless questions for viewers after one episode.
Line of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
