Loose Women star Denise Welch has disclosed that she travelled to her childhood home in order to help take care of her elderly father after he recently suffered a fall.
At the beginning of Wednesday’s edition of the ITV talk show, Denise revealed to viewers that she was tuning in via video chat from her family house, sitting in the kitchen with some teapots and a framed photograph in the background.
Denise, 62, explained that her father Vin Welch, who is in his eighties, has been unwell for the past few months.
‘I’m actually in my childhood home which hasn’t really changed very much. My dad Vin, a friend of the show, has not been well bless him since Christmas,’ the Hollyoaks star said.
‘He’s got to have a gall bladder operation and he had a bit of a fall the other night, so my sister and I are sort of sharing care for him at the moment, so I drove up hastily.’
Denise added that Vin ‘wants everybody to know that he’s alright but it was a bit of a shock to the system’.

‘So I’m coming here from County Durham, as I say, where I grew up. So it’s full of nostalgic feelings for me,’ she said.
Ruth Langsford told Denise to give their love to Vin, in addition to wishing him a ‘speedy recovery’.
Former Coronation Street actor Denise was born in Northumberland, before moving to County Durham in her early teens.
She has a younger sister called Debbie and has two children, one of which is The 1975 lead singer Matty Healy.
During the Loose Women panel’s chat about the banning of alcohol in parks in Nottingham this week following a brawl, Denise said that it made her feel ‘hopeful’ seeing young people enjoying the sunshine outdoors this week.
Ruth revealed the reaction she had when she read about the ban, stating: ‘I saw the word ban and I was like well give us a break!’
‘Literally, we’ve been locked up for a year, it’s the first chance we’ve got to meet our friends and I think the majority of people do what they can,’ she said.
‘It’s like they’re giving with one hand and taking away with another. It’s just ridiculous,’ Brenda Edwards remarked, with Denise replying: ‘Exactly.’
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
