Lorraine Kelly has expressed concern about Alice Evans during a candid interview, saying that she was ‘worried’ about the actress following her split from Ioan Gruffudd.
Alice admitted that she ‘thought she might do herself harm’ during her breakup from the Welsh actor during a conversation on Lorraine this morning.
The exes, who were married for 13 years, are going through a very public split. It comes after Ioan went public with Australian actress Bianca Wallace, crediting her with ‘making him smile again’, 10 months after leaving Alice, 50.
Now, Alice has opened up to Lorraine and spoken about the personal turmoil she’s faced over recent months.
‘We’ve been together for 20 years,’ she said during the emotional interview. ‘I think I was one of those very complacent. What’s the Bridget Jones phrase? Smug married.
‘Just like other things, one can go through loss of a parent or infertility. You don’t know what it’s like until it happens to you. I thought it was never going to happen to me.’
She added: ‘He told me within the first few days, “I just don’t love you anymore.” Look, I’m not questioning his right to feel that. I’m not bashing him, but it was so out of the blue…’
‘He just kept saying, “I’m sorry, I don’t feel the same way for you anymore. I might leave, I might not leave.”’
Alice went on to say: ‘Eventually, I thought I might do myself harm… My friends just didn’t know what to say to me. At one point I just thought I’m gonna lose my mind.’
Expressing her concern, Lorraine replied: ‘I’m just I’m just worried about you. Because obviously you’re very fragile, and it’s a difficult, horrible situation to be in. Absolutely hellish.
‘I just wish you were here so that I could give you a hug,’ she added.
Liar star Ioan filed for divorce from Alice in February, citing irreconcilable differences, and the papers stated that they separated on New Year’s Day 2021.
The actor is now dating Bianca, 29, after meeting her in Brisbane on the set of his TV series Harrow, on which she was an extra, and Alice accused her ex of cheating on her for ‘three years’.
Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
