Days after he expressed his ‘surprise’ to see her on the ITV2 programme – which returned on Monday night – Gauke was asked if he had been following her progress in the villa.
Admitting his attention had been firmly fixed on Euro 2020, he added that he might be tempted to watch an episode to see how she gets on.
In an interview on Sky News, he said: ‘I haven’t been watching. My focus has been very much on the football but I wish her well.
‘I hope she does well in Love Island, whatever that might involve.’
When asked if he had ever watched the show, he added: ‘I haven’t [watched it]. Maybe I will tune in just to see how she’s getting on at some point.’
In terms of how she’s getting on, Sharon – along with the other girls in the villa – is potentially at risk of being dumped depending on who new girl Chloe Burrows chooses to couple up with.
Viewers were left frustrated when Tuesday night’s instalment didn’t reveal who Chloe had picked despite a lot of build up.
