Hugo Hammond has been spilling some insider secrets about Love Island, revealing just how show bosses set up the villa for dinner each night.

The food situation has remained something of a mystery on the programme over the years, as viewers never get the chance to see the islanders tuck into their meals during the episodes themselves.

Hugo opened up during a fan Q&A on Instagram, while also speaking about his relationship with some of the other islanders.

Speaking about the contestants eating behind the scenes, the 25-year-old said: ‘The food was decent. We had a lot of chicken and fish so it got a little bit repetitive.

‘They served it by bringing out tables and chairs by the kitchen. We’d eat, we’d scran, we’d finish it up, wash up all the dishes ourselves and then they’d take the tables and chairs away. Then we’d carry on living our best island lives.’

He also spoke about his former co-stars, revealing that Millie Court and Liam Reardon – aka ‘Millian’ were his favourite couple.

‘For me, Millian take it,’ he said. ‘Their connection is just out of this world. I think they’re perfect for each other.’

Discussing his infamous confrontation with Toby Aromolaran, Hugo also revealed that he was good friends with him and wished him and Chloe Burrows well.

‘If Chloe is happy and Toby is happy, then I’m happy,’ he said. ‘Obviously we had that fire pit situation. He’s a really good mate of mine and I just wanted him to do better and I think he took it on board.’

It comes after Amy Day blasted Hugo for being ‘fake’, after they were dumped from the Love Island villa.

Hugo was sent packing earlier this month after his fellow islanders chose to save Tyler Cruickshank and Mary Bedford from the chop.

Love Island 2021 continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
