Love Island star Shannon Singh has opened up about the ‘disgusting’ racist abuse she has suffered on social media, saying she feels ‘really upset how people can stoop so low’.
During last night’s episode of Love Island, the remaining islanders were tasked with voting for who they thought was the least compatible couple.
Following the vote, four couples were at risk of being dumped from the island, with Priya Gopaldas and Brett Staniland eventually being the ones to go.
While watching the episode, Shannon, who became the first contestant to exit the show this year after just two days in the villa, remarked on Twitter that she thought Faye Winter and Teddy Soares were ‘really well suited’, despite receiving some of the votes.
In a statement later shared on her Instagram Story, Shannon said that after sharing her opinion on the compatibility of Faye and Teddy, she’s ‘now receiving trolling and racial abuse’.
‘Guys because I’ve got an opinion on my Twitter of a compatible couple I’m now receiving trolling and racial abuse and people calling me h*alf breed and calling me all sorts cause I had an opinion OF A SHOW THAT I WAS ACTUALLY ON,’ she wrote.

The model said that she felt ‘really upset how people can stoop so low’ after receiving the online abuse.
‘Proud of my ethnicity – anyone being racist can f*k off,’ she wrote.

‘Pretty disgusting and I don’t even normally even give these things the time of day but not having racial abuses thrown at me.’
After sharing her view on Faye and Teddy on Twitter, Shannon received several tweets from people mocking her over the fact that she exited Love Island after 48 hours.
In response to one, she wrote: ‘The amount of people saying this is jokes, how does that have any relevance to me commenting my opinions of the show?
‘You weren’t in the villa at all so does that mean you can’t comment? Confused.’
In a preview for tonight’s episode, Faye was shown shouting at Jake Cornish after becoming one of the couples at risk of elimination.
The sneak peek saw Faye pointing at someone and shouting: ‘She is the most genuine person I’ve ever come across in here, and you, outside or in, are a different person and you’re p**sing me off now.’
Storming away from the firepit, she adds: ‘I’m so far done with you Jake it’s unreal,’ while Jake mutters: ‘Jesus Christ.’
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and is available to watch on ITV Hub.
