Netflix’s Sex Education is officially getting a series 4, with the streaming giant confirming the news just days after the series 3 release.
Fans were left wanting more after series three brought back our faves, including Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson), Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) and Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey).
Netflix blessed us with the exciting news at its Tudum fan event, also dropping a short clip in the style of a ‘Moordale News’ broadcast.
‘IT’S COMING!!! Sex Education has been renewed for Season 4!’ the announcement said.
Series three was just as chaotic as expected, with new headteacher Hope Haddon (Jemima Kirke) hoping to straighten out the school’s reputation.
Meanwhile, Eric and Adam (Connor Swindells) are giving their relationship a go, while Otis has a new unexpected partner after he thinks Maeve ignored his heartfelt voicemail.
However, things soon get very, very complicated.
Ncuti said of Eric and Adam’s relationship: ‘It was really exciting to play with because obviously we’ve watched the watch the relationship from its consummation in series one.
‘I guess throughout the relationship is very much been dictated by the pace of Adam’s growth.’
He went on to explain how, when series three begins, we meet back up with the couple after having spent a whole summer in an official relationship.
Ncuti explained: ‘They’re very much like on an equal status in the relationship, there’s not anywhere that any of them can hide behind anymore.
‘Eric can demand, kind of what he wants, which I don’t think he was able to do before and so it’s just the changing dynamic.
‘It’s just quite interesting considering their history and we just see how they grow and how they work through that, because [they’re in] two very, very different places in the sexual and personal journeys.’
As for what else is to come in future, only time will tell…
Sex Education series one to three is available to stream on Netflix.
