Netflix’s Shadow and Bone finally has a release date – and Metro.co.uk has been given an exclusive first look into the future of the show.
The series, based on the books by Leigh Bardugo, is promising to be the dark fantasy land we’ve been waiting for – with a cast including Westworld’s Ben Barnes and led by Jessie Mei Li as heroine, Alina.
In a first look exclusive to Metro.co.uk, we see the first shots of the team in action, with Alina being thrown into the action almost immediately forming a bond with Malyen (Archie Renaux).
But General Kirigan (Ben Barnes) looks just as charming as the books warned us he’d be – which is a problem as he is also extremely manipulative. Looks can be deceiving too, as this leader of the Second Army is also an ancient soul.
Then we have a first look at The Dregs, including Inej (Amita Suman), Jesper (Kit Young) and Kaz (Freddy Carter), who are as tricky as they are charismatic.
The full series will drop on April 23 on Netflix.
Speaking about what’s to come, showrunner Eric Heisserer told us: ‘These photos offer a glimpse into the expansive, textured world Leigh created in her books.
‘We worked tirelessly to craft a lived-in feel for fictional lands like Ketterdam and Ravka, with invented languages, uniforms, currency, and artistic choices from set design to costuming.
‘You’re immersed in the Grishaverse when you read, and it’s our hope that both new and existing fans have that same feeling when they watch the show.
‘The series has an incredibly passionate fanbase and we can’t wait for new people to discover the magic that is Shadow and Bone.’
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series…
