Piers Morgan wasted no time in tearing into Prince Harry’s James Corden interview on today’s Good Morning Britain, branding the whole thing ’embarrassing’.
The presenter, who was joined by co-host Susanna Reid, began the show by addressing the Duke Of Sussex’s tour of Los Angeles on an open-top bus with the Gavin and Stacy comedian which aired on The Late Late Show last week.
During the interview, Prince Harry lifted the lid on why he needed to move his wife Meghan Markle and family to start a new life in the US.
Turning his attention to the chat, Piers slammed: ‘They only want positive media coverage. Who else wants that? Vladamir Putin, Kim Jong-un. They want only positive media coverage don’t they?’
‘You’re comparing them to international dictators?’ asked Susanna.
‘For Prince Harry, does it get any more embarrassing than this?’ Piers responded, after praising James for landing the scoop.
‘Seriously? Than being on an open-top bus in Hollywood? He’s been banging on about privacy for years on end.’
Fighting Prince Harry’s corner, Susanna retorted: ‘Piers, you don’t understand. It’s not that they want to be completely, 100% private, it’s that they don’t want the toxic negativity that they felt they had.’
‘Honestly, I don’t think anyone has had better press coverage than these two until the wedding,’ Piers bleated on.
Many viewers were tired by Piers’ rant and urged him to stop talking about Prince Harry and Meghan.
‘For goodness sake stop bleating on about Prince Harry, its boring now,’ begged one.
Echoing a similar sentiment, another blasted: ‘Why don’t you just leave him alone @piersmorgan. It’s his life it’s his choice, he lost his mother at a young age having seen her ripped up by the media. Respect his decisions.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
