Richard Madeley insists he ‘definitely’ saw ghost at home as he recalls creepy encounter: ‘I thought we’ve got an intruder’

Richard Madeley had an encounter with the paranormal and has lived to tell the tale, recalling the time he apparently saw a ghost at home.

The Good Morning Britain presenter sat down to interview TV presenters Dick McCourt and Dominic Wood ahead of their E4 series, Celebrity Ghost Trip, which sees the dynamic duo visit some of the most haunted locations in the UK with celebrities.

Discussing the new series sparked the memory of Richard’s own experience with a ghoul, much to Dick and Dom’s amusement.

The 65-year-old presenter said: ‘Everyone’s got a ghost story. I was just going around the floor here today and everyone’s got a little ghost story.

‘Tell you my recent one, I was sitting in the garden in the summer, I’m having a little dose after doing the morning show. Everything’s fine, looking at the paper and I just have this instinct to look up at the window that overlooks our garden from the house and in the window on the top floor of the house was a white face looking down at me, not moving, but just staring at me.’

He recalled: ‘I thought, oh my God, we’ve got an intruder, someone’s broken into the house.’

‘So I went in, checked that Judy was on the ground floor, she was, went upstairs, nobody there. I definitely saw a face looking at me from the window,’ he revealed, referring to wife Judy Finnigan.

Describing what the apparent ghost looked like, Richard said: ‘It was very pale and unmoving and it made me feel a bit strange. Did I see a ghost?’

Dick’s unconvinced facial expression pretty much summed up his thoughts about Richard’s encounter, as he told the presenter: ‘Well that’s it, if you’ve experienced it and do you believe it?’ while Dom looked rather startled by the claims.

Richard then asked his co-host Ranvir Singh if she had also come across a ghost before, to which she revealed: It’s about my dad, it might be a bit too much for half term. It was after my dad died, my mum said she saw him at the window, knocking at the window.’

Earlier in the programme, Richard came under fire from viewers when he described Angela Rayner as Sir Keir Starmer’s ‘best girl’ in an interview with the Labour leader.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
