Royal Variety Performance 2020 reminds viewers of chilling Black Mirror moment: ‘This is the most dystopian thing I’ve ever seen’

The Royal Variety Performance viewers couldn’t help but compare the virtual audience during tonight’s show to the Netflix hit Black Mirror.

For the first time ever, the event took place without a live audience. Instead, host Jason Manford treated a virtual audience to a series of star-studded performances.

The show was also held at Blackpool Opera House for the first time in more than a decade.

Viewers were treated to performances by magician Stephen Mulhern, Gary Barlow and Captain Tom Moore.

However, while viewers praised Jason for being hilarious as usual, they couldn’t help but notice the similarity between the wall of viewers in the audience and Black Mirror.

It reminded them of a memorable episode from Charlie Brooker’s dystopian series where Daniel Kaluuya and Jessica Brown Findlay’s characters take part in a reality TV-style competition.
