Serena Williams proved her superhero credentials as she transformed into Wonder Woman for a new TV advert where she was joined by fellow athlete, John McEnroe.
The tennis ace, 39, gave Gal Gadot a run for her money with the brief clip for Direct TV, donning a red and gold corset and blue skirt, paired with a whip, the iconic headband and chunky gold wrist guards.
Serena was on hand to save the day as balls pelted customers in a shopping centre, after TV viewers kept switching between a tennis match and the blockbuster.
She battled against an evil ball-shooting machine, setting up serves to destroy it – as you do.
However, there was one casualty in the advert as 62-year-old John’s tray of food was hit by a tennis ball in the fray, causing him to yell: ‘You cannot be serious!’
Never change, John.
Serena’s stint as Wonder Woman comes after she was forced to pull out of the US Open after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The annual tournament kicked off on August 30, with a string of huge names withdrawing from the court – including Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-one confirmed she also wouldn’t be competing, in order to give her body more time to recover.
‘After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,’ she said.
‘New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world and one of my favourite places to play – I’ll miss seeing the fans but will be cheering on from afar.
‘Thank you for your continued love and support. I’ll see you soon.’
