Sex Education fans have had plenty of drama to take in over the course of season three – but it turns out the biggest bombshell was happening under our noses behind the scenes the whole time.
Fans online have had their minds blown after making one big connection which at first had gone unnoticed.
It comes after eagle-eyed viewers discovered that Alistair Petrie, who plays the former headteacher Mr Groff, is actually related to members of the supporting castCal and Brodie Petrie.
The twins have popped-up plenty of times, whether it be in the scene when new uniforms were introduced by new headteacher Hope or grinning in the background of the famous bus toilet sequence from season three.
As it turns out, the 18-year-olds are the sons of Alistair and actress Lucy Scott – and who knew?
Alistair is also known for roles in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Rush, The Terror and The Night Manager, and also has an older son called Angus.
While it remained something of an undiscovered truth among fans, it was noticed by a TikTok user who pointed it out in a viral video.
The clip, which has been viewed more than three million times, has the caption: ’THE HOT TWINS IN SEX ED ARE MR GROFF’S KIDS IRL.’
Expect the twins to crop up a whole lot more in the show’s upcoming fourth season, after the comedy was recently renewed by Netflix.
No-one was more excited about the news than star Gillian Anderson, who was all of us as she celebrated the show returning for more episodes.
‘I guess we’ll be seeing you for S4!! @sexeducation,’ the 53-year-old wrote before adding three aubergine emojis.
The actress also spoke about her family’s reaction to the series, saying she doesn’t mean she wants her teenage sons seeing it.
Sex Education is available to stream on Netflix.
