Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left confused on show after Katya Jones appeared in the group dance – despite testing positive for coronavirus.
While the dancer and her partner Nicola Adams were forced to leave the series earlier this week due to the diagnosis, we’ll still be seeing Katya on our screens for the time being.
Why is Katya Jones in the Strictly group dances?
All professional group dances on Strictly Come Dancing this year were pre-recorded, before the show kicked off.
This allowed all the pros to be together in lockdown for two weeks in a hotel, as shown in week one of the show, and rehearse.
As a result, Katya, and all other pros that may or may be knocked out, will remain in the competition.
So while viewers thought they’d seen the last of Katya on this year’s series, she took part in tonight’s group performance with her fellow professionals.
‘Will they explain why Katya’s dancing while supposedly self-isolating?’ one fan wrote.
‘Hold on… why is Katya in the group dance section? Never realised it was THAT prerecorded,’ another said.
Is Katya Jones self-isolating?
Yes. As per government guidelines, Katya is now self-isolating for two weeks, despite being asymptomatic.
Nicola Adams, having been in close contact with her, will also have to self-isolate.
As a result, they have had to pull out of the competition, and it’s been added that they won’t be allowed to return, to prevent having an unfair advantage in future series.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One.
