Strictly Come Dancing 2021 star Tilly Ramsay has admitted that she let her nerves ‘get the better’ of her on the dancefloor on Saturday night, before she and partner Nikita Kuzmin landed in the bottom two for a second consecutive week.
On the latest episode of Strictly, Tilly and Nikita performed a lively Quickstep to I Won’t Dance by Damita Jo, landing joint second bottom on the leaderboard with a score of 29 out of 40.
Despite being in the bottom two the previous week, Tilly and Nikita appeared in high spirits during their performance, with the social media star sweetly being supported by her dad Gordon Ramsay in the audience, who held her hand as she raced up the stairs for her scores.
On Tuesday’s edition of It Takes Two, Tilly and Nikita opened up to Rylan Clark-Neal about how they felt about opening Saturday’s show, with the professional dancer saying that he felt ‘so nervous’.
‘It was terrifying, just opening the show was so scary, then trying to come back from the fight of the dance-off,’ Tilly added.
The 20-year-old explained that the pressure of being the first pair to perform as well as being saved in last week’s dance-off took its toll on her performance.
‘I think I did let it get the better of me a little bit in that dance when I fell out of sync with Nikita and I just thought, “Uh oh, that wasn’t right.”’ she said.
Nonetheless, Nikita couldn’t praise Tilly highly enough for how she did in the dance-off against Sara Davies, saying he was ‘so impressed’ with how ‘cool’ she appeared, in addition to ‘performing even better’ than during their first go at the routine.
Tilly recalled how when she found out she was going to be in the dance-off, she thought to herself that it could be her last dance, which is why she decided she was just going to try and have fun.
Her mindset clearly paid off, with Dragons’ Den star Sara and her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec becoming the latest couple to be eliminated.
On Saturday night, the remaining seven couples are going to be taking part in Musicals Week, with Tilly and Nikita performing their Couple’s Choice to Revolting Children from the stage production of Matilda.
It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
