Jamie, who made his Strictly debut on Saturday night, has been dating fellow Made in Chelsea star Sophie Habboo for almost a year.
On the launch show, before Jamie took to the dancefloor for the first time with professional Karen Hauer, he explained: ‘I’ve had a moment of realisation, of clarity. I’m going to say it – I like wearing my girlfriend’s shirts.
‘They fit better, they look better, they feel better. That’s a weight off my shoulders.’
Jamie was meant to take part in last year’s Strictly but had to pull out at the last minute due to a foot injury.
He was replaced by soap star Kelvin Fletcher – who went on to win the competition with Oti Mabuse.
Speaking ahead of the launch show, the 31-year-old insisted that he wasn’t worried about the Strictly curse.
‘We didn’t speak too much about the Strictly curse,’ he began.
‘I’m very lucky to be with my girlfriend, she is a lot better than me, than I am in every single way, so I don’t worry about a Strictly curse.
‘If any Strictly curse did happen, it would be a complete shame, so I don’t think it will ever happen.’
Last night’s instalment saw the annual pairings between the celebrities and professional dancers.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman revealed the pairings throughout the night and the first three to be revealed were Clara Amfo and Aljaž Skorjanec, Ranvir Singh and Giovanni Pernice, along with Caroline Quentin and Johannes Radebe.
Former MP Jacqui Smith is paired with Anton Du Beke, EastEnders star Maisie Smith with Gorka Marquez and boxer Nicola Adams, has made show history by being paired with Katya Jones in the first same-sex coupling.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 7.25pm on BBC One.
