Strictly Come Dancing finalist John Whaite has reportedly been signed up to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s huge upcoming West End musical.

The 32-year-old Great British Bake Off 2012 winner, who stunned fans and judges alike in Strictly Come Dancing’s first male-male pairing with partner Johannes Radebe, has landed the lead role in a summer musical.

An announcement on the upcoming show, set to launch on stage in July, is expected soon.

A source told The Sun: ‘John will take centre stage in the show.

‘It’s a dream job for him.

‘He really impressed on Strictly and when Andrew found out John has an excellent singing voice too, he reached out.

‘It could be an incredible new start for him.’

Although they lost the Glitterball trophy to actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice, John and Johannes won the hearts of fans across the country.

In a recent post on Instagram, John shared an acoustic performance singing and playing the guitar to Lover by Taylor Swift, captioning: ‘Can’t stop singing this after performing the waltz to it in the Strictly Live Tour. Definitely one of her finest songs.’

As fans flooded to the comments praising John’s secret talents, it’s no surprise Andrew Lloyd-Webber is impressed.

The celebrity chef is currently on the Strictly live tour, along with series winner Rose Ayling-Ellis and returner Maisie Smith, which continues until February 13.

Professional Amy Dowden was forced to miss the first few shows, as she revealed the reality of her chronic illness on Instagram.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
