Susanna Reid admits rotation of male GMB hosts has become like ‘Tinder TV’ since Piers Morgan exit: ‘Where does it stop?’

Susanna Reid has compared the current rotation of Good Morning Britain hosts to speed dating, as bosses have stopped trying to find a replacement for Piers Morgan.

Piers famously quit Good Morning Britain in March 2021 following an on-screen row with co-star Alex Beresford over his relentless attacks on Meghan Markle.

Since then, Susanna’s been joined by the likes of Martin Lewis, Richard Madeley, Adil Ray and even former Labour spin-doctor Alastair Campbell.

Susanna joined Lorraine ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March, to talk about a photoshoot featuring the women of ITV Daytime, and the ‘incredible sisterhood’ they have.

Lorraine, however, swiftly brought up all the co-hosts who have sat alongside Susanna over the years.

‘It is a little bit like speed-dating, there has been a fair few fellas,’ joked Lorraine.

‘There’s been quite a few…’ Lorraine added, as they ran through the list of male co-presenters from Susanna’s ‘good friend’ Rob Rinder to former politician Ed Balls.

‘Where does it stop?’ joked Susanna.

Although she added she ‘quite liked’ the rotation of presenters by her side.

‘As the late great Bruce Forsyth would say, “They’re all my favourites!”

‘Because to me, it’s important that whoever’s on screen the relationship has to work.

‘They’re all talented in their own ways, and they’ve all got a wealth of experience.’

She finished: ‘It’s a privilege working with them all.’

After Piers stormed off the show in March 2021, Good Morning Britain bosses have faced difficulties finding his perfect replacement.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Replacing Piers was always going to be tough, but no one thought that almost a year on they still wouldn’t have found anyone. It is one of the biggest shows on TV, so it really shouldn’t have been this hard.’

An ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Good Morning Britain is an award-winning breakfast show with great journalism at its core and a brilliantly talented team both on and off screen who all play a part in its continued success.

‘The show is performing well with the roster of guest hosts alongside our existing family of presenters and there are no current plans to change this.’

As for Piers, he’s currently gearing up for his upcoming TalkTV show, teaming up with former boss and media mogul Rupert Murdoch to launch a global news programme, which he hopes will ‘cancel cancel culture’.

And he’s already dared the Duchess of Sussex to take a seat as his first guest to ‘settle unfinished business’.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
