The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco has addressed her salary alongside co-stars Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons, assuring she was always paid the same as her male co-stars.

For years, calls for equal pay among the sexes have become louder and while the demands are hopefully more likely to be listened to, there’s still a steep climb until we can wholeheartedly say men and women are paid the same for the same job across the board.

The Big Bang Theory cast, however, famously took matters into their own hands when two stars – Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch – stood up for equal pay.

Kaley and the leading men of The Big Bang Theory offered to take $100,000 (£70,700) pay cut per episode to support their female colleagues.

Being the only lead actress when The Big Bang Theory launched, Kaley has insisted she there was never a dispute over her salary.

‘It was such a different time 13 years ago,’ she told Hollywood Reporter. ‘I remember with my team, and even [creator] Chuck [Lorre], there was no conversation that I wouldn’t have parity with those two guys.

‘I’m lucky that I had people to pave the way for me and that no one balked.’

The Big Bang Theory was one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, running for 12 seasons until Jim called it quits in 2018.

By the last chapter, the cast was raking in $1million (£770,000) per episode, which Kaley herself admitted was ’nuts’.

So much so, she wept with Johnny, who played her on-screen husband Leonard.

Speaking on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert, she explained: ‘Johnny and I were very close and we were partners in this whole thing so we got to share the celebrations together. We were like “Can you believe we did that?” We did that together.

‘I remember after the first negotiations, we had a lot of the same team so we would get together and have these big meetings. Then after we’d walk outside in disbelief and we would cry.’

She continued: ‘We would have these long late night conversations where we would be bawling because he and I both knew this would never happen again because it won’t.’

The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix UK and HBO Max.
