Season 2 of The End of the F***ing World has arrived on Netflix… and people can’t get over just how apt the timing is for its release.

As votes are counted in the US presidential election, America – and the rest of the world – is currently waiting in anxious anticipation to hear whether Donald Trump or Joe Biden will come out victorious.

Some people may be trying to de-stress by binge-watching their favourite TV shows and films.

But the release of one particular show on Netflix has been described by Twitter users as a little ‘on the nose’ given the current political climate.

On Wednesday, Netflix UK and Ireland announced that season 2 of The End of the F***ing World had been added to the platform, having originally been released on Channel 4 in 2019.

And people can’t handle the irony of the news.

‘This feels fitting with the current climate,’ one person said.

‘I was unaware that was the tagline for the US election,’ someone else sarcastically remarked.

Another Twitter user said that the release of season 2 of The End of the F***ing World on Netflix ‘feels oddly appropriate today of all days’.

Meanwhile, someone else curtly commented: ‘Bit on the nose that.’

Last November, it was reported that The End of the F***ing World would likely come to an end after season 2.

During a Q&A, series showrunner Charlie Covell said: ‘I don’t think you’re going to get another series.’

‘I think sometimes it’s good to just stop things and I hope when you see the end you’ll agree,’ he said.

‘I think you can push things but this feels like an actual end. Sorry.’

Season 1 of the show, which is set two years before the second, saw James (Alex Lawther), a teenager who believes he’s a psychopath, set out on a mission to kill a human being, deciding upon fellow 17-year-old Alyssa (Jessica Barden).

The End of the F***ing World seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Netflix and Channel 4.
