The Games: Tensions rise between Chelcee Grimes and Mel B’s daughter Phoenix Gulzar-Brown as pair lock horns over results

Things are heating up on new ITV show The Games, with contestants Chelcee Grimes and Phoenix Gulzar-Brown becoming embroiled in a series of rows.

The sports-themed game show returned this week and sees celebs put through their paces in a range of events.

However, it isn’t all rosy or healthy competition, as Chelcee and Phoenix first locked horns over the 50m breaststroke.

The pair exchanged some strong words in Wednesday’s episode, in which Mel B’s daughter vented her frustrations after the tight finish, saying she wanted the results to be double-checked.

Phoenix finished third in the race, but the bronze position could’ve gone to footballer Chelcee instead.

Speaking backstage, she told cameras: ‘So they’re saying they want to re-check it cos they are saying Chelcee came third and I didn’t. That’s bull c***! I busted my a** on that.’

The results were verified and, fortunately for Phoenix, she remained in third place and singer Chelcee stayed behind her in fourth.

But, that wasn’t all, as things were heated earlier in the week after the 100m hurdles event.

The women disagreed over who should’ve won, with Chelcee taking the crown by a very small margin.

Gesturing to Chelcee, Phoenix said: ‘She pushed me yesterday!’

Chelcee replied: ‘I love the girl, but I’m not getting robbed like that.’

‘I played fair, you didn’t play fair yesterday, man,’ Phoenix retorted.

‘Oh, you’re bringing that in! That’s fair play. If you’re going to re-check this [the breaststroke], then re-check yesterday,’ argued Chelcee.

When Chelcee asked what Phoenix meant, she added: ‘What do you mean? You gave me a shove.’

However, the tension seemed to fizzle out by evening time, as sports star Alex Scott quizzed them on their rows ahead of the 400m sprint.

Chelcee said she felt ‘relatively calm tonight’, commenting that was ‘odd for me.’

‘I feed off the crowd and the nerves but right now I’m feeling calm. I’m just going to run my own race and try not to elbow her out the way!’, she laughed.

Phoenix also said: ‘I don’t know, I do my best, I know how she is in this race… she’s a winner in this race and so is Lucrezia and everyone. Long distance isn’t my thing but I will give it, babes, just for you!’

The Games has received a mixed reaction since it began on Monday night, with Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff hosting.

Some viewers argued there weren’t enough events and ‘too much filler,’ since much of the show has been taken up by VTs from training, rather than sporting events.

As well as Chelcee and Phoenix, taking part are the likes of Ryan Thomas, Wes Nelson, Olivia Attwood, Max George and Kevin Clifton.

The Games continues weeknights at 9pm on ITV.
