We’ll have to wait a while to return to a galaxy far, far away, after the second season of The Mandalorian came to a dizzying and captivating end recently.

It’s one of the biggest shows of recent years, and the second season of the Star Wars drama was the kind of perfect escapist viewing that kept many people going during lockdown.

There’s a whole lot more to come. Plenty of questions are sure to be answered when the show returns, with twists and turns that no-one could have seen coming.

But when is the third season of the show out on Disney Plus? Here’s everything you need to know.

When will season 3 of The Mandalorian be released on Disney Plus?

Fans will have to be patient until we can return to the Mandalorian, with the series set to return in around 12 month’s time.

Disney have confirmed that the release is coming in Christmas 2021, but a more specific date has yet to be announced.

This section contains spoilers for season two of The Mandalorian

There were curveballs aplenty during the finale of The Mandalorian’s second season, and it seems the plot could go anywhere in season three.

Up until now, one of the driving narratives has seen Mando (Pedro Pascal) attempting to bring Baby Yoda home. After the arrival of Luke Skywalker, Baby Yoda is on his way to train in the way of the Jedi, and it seems their journey is at a close for the time being.

Mando’s story could now be taken in any direction, although we really wouldn’t bet against him being reunited with Baby Yoda at some point.

With the surprise-filled post-credits scene featuring Boba and Fennec, in which it was announced that ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ will be coming in December 2021, there could also be more focus on the villain in later episodes of the Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian is available to watch on Disney Plus.
