The One Show: Alex Jones returns from maternity leave but ‘anxious’ to leave baby daughter Annie at home

Alex Jones returned to The One Show tonight but admitted to feeling ‘anxious’ about leaving her baby girl at home.

The TV presenter had been on maternity leave since giving birth to her daughter, Annie, on August 21.

She’s now back in The One Show studio and hosted her first official episode since the Christmas break on Tuesday alongside Jermaine Jenas.

However, Alex shared her struggles with adapting to work life and being apart from her children with husband Charlie Thomson looking after the household.

Speaking to her co-host about their New Year’s resolutions, Alex said: ‘Mine Jermaine is to be a little bit more relaxed, so today [is my] first official day back from maternity.

‘My husband Charlie on paternity and I need to learn to let go a bit of things at home. Let him do it his way. Tricky.’

When Jermaine quipped: ‘You don’t seem too happy with Charlie…,’ Alex insisted: ‘No, no, no, it’s all good. A little bit anxious, but yeah it’s fine.’

Alex has made a handful of appearances on the BBC programme since welcoming her youngest child, including an episode in October where her family accompanied her to the studio.

In a behind-the-scenes photo, Alex is seen sitting on the sofa while cradling baby Annie and her sons Ted and Kit at her feet.

‘The juggle. Nice to be @bbctheoneshow for a couple of nights but it’s back to the day job for now, looking after these little ones,’ she wrote.

The TV star also opened up about a ‘trying’ day with her sons recently following the arrival of her new baby girl.

She admitted: ‘Today has been a bit trying. Both boys are so tired, Ted after his first full week of school and little Kit because he hasn’t slept one night through since Annie arrived and patience is at an all time low but getting out and being lucky enough to be able to drink in this view is a real reset. [sic].’

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
