The Walking Dead: Season 10 trailer teases Negan and Lucille throwback while Maggie seeks revenge

The Walking Dead returns to screens next month as fans are treated to six bonus episodes that have been added to the tenth season.

All eyes are on Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) as she returns to confront Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) for the first time since he bludgeoned her husband and the father of her unborn child to death with his barbed-wired baseball bat, Lucille.

Speaking of Lucille, the actor’s wife Hilarie Burton stars as the character’s wife Lucille in flashbacks that will give viewers a deeper understanding of Negan’s backstory.

Elsewhere, Aaron( Ross Marquand) seems to have found himself in a troubling situation opposite a new Mays character portrayed by Robert Patrick.

The synopsis for the episodes reads: ‘Last on The Walking Dead, we witnessed the fall of Alpha (Samantha Morton) and the end of the Whisperers War. The Kingdom had fallen, Hilltop was virtually destroyed and Alexandria abandoned to prepare for final battle.

‘Our survivors were trapped and separated from one another. Yet, when faced with almost certain death, they rallied together to fight, killing Beta (Ryan Hurst) and eliminating the threat of the horde.’

It continued: ‘In these six new episodes, we find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake.

‘The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides. As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?’

Showrunner Angela Kang promised Maggie will have ‘an important role to play’ in the upcoming instalments.

‘She’s going to learn some information about what’s going on, and Maggie being Maggie, she’s like, “Oh s**t, my friends are in trouble!”

‘Also, Maggie’s got her own story she’s been living in, so that’s something we’ll explore later on down the line. But there’s sort of an immediate thing at hand she has to deal with.’

The countdown is on before the final season ever launches later this year as the zombie epic nears to an end.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 28 and drops a day later on Fox UK.
