Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been tantalising fans ahead of the final season of The Walking Dead by posting a chilling first look at Negan.
The actor, who has played the menacing villain since 2016, gave fans a taste of what to expect with a new image on Instagram.
A chilling picture uploaded on the site shows the villain turned away from the camera holding his signature weapon Lucille – the infamous baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire.
‘The countdown has begun,’ the actor captioned the post.
It’s not long now until fans can enjoy new episodes of the hugely popular drama arriving on their screens.
A total of 16 episodes for the programme’s tenth season were released between October 2019 and October 2020.
It was later confirmed that six more episodes would air after production was put on hold as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The new episodes will arrive in March.
In the official synopsis for the new episodes, it states that the survivors are ‘trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake.
‘The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides.’
The Walking Dead is due to come to an end with its eleventh season. A Daryl spin-off has also been confirmed, with Norman Reedus set to reprise his role with Melissa McBride.
Season 11 will consist of 24 episodes. The first half is expected to air in late 2021, with the second half coming in 2022.
New episodes of The Walking Dead are due to premiere on March 1 on FOX in the UK.
