After the UK was graced with a mini-heatwave, weather guru Dave King joined today’s programme to share his forecast for the upcoming months – and sadly it looks like there could be a whole load of rain and just a fortnight of sun.
Revealing his report for May, Dave warned: ‘Get your welly boots out it’s going to be damp.
‘Summer this year is going to be disappointing, it’s going to be wet. In May, it’s going to be wet.’
‘What are the chances you could be wrong?’ Phil asked, desperate for good news.
But he replied: ‘Well I’ve been doing this a few times with you and I’ve been wrong once.’

Explaining how he is able to determine his weather reports, Dave said he takes note of the ash trees.
‘The ash trees have leaves but the oak is absolutely bare,’ he then recounted the phrase: ‘Ash before oak we’re in for a soak.’
‘That gives us a wet summer, a really wet summer as well,’ Dave continued.
But it’s not all doom and gloom as Dave did promise there will be another, albeit brief, heatwave.
‘The good news is, for all those people who’ve got staycations, the last week of June into the first week of July, as far as the 15th of July, it’s going to be hot, dry and sunny.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
