James Lock claims he’s found his calling with pro wrestling – and he could be getting snatched up by WWE.
The TOWIE star swapped the Sugar Hut for spandex for Jose Cuervo’s new campaign which sees him and Pete Wicks become masked luchadors and train in the art of lucha libre.
Opening up on his new goals, he exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘They want to sign me! All jokes aside, we’ve had a phone call.
‘One of the guys here was actually a scout for WWE in America and he’s actually said to me he fancies my chances.
‘He said I’m a natural and he wants to, as soon as we’re allowed to, fly me out. Obviously I think Jose Cuervo are going to be my sponsors, I think I’ll be Mr. Jose Cuervo.’
Pete could resist a cheeky dig at his pal, and suggested he might have got confused on the phone.
‘What he doesn’t know is it wasn’t WWE,’ he laughed. ‘It was actually WWF, and they thought he was an endangered hippo.’
We’ve reached out to WWE, and while they confirmed there’s been no contact made at all, the company are aware of Lockie’s interest and they’re monitoring his progress.
‘What he basically did was, he did one day of training and was straight on the phone to Vince McMahon to try and get signed,’ Pete teased.
Lockie is definitely keen, and he suggested he even feels more at home in the ring than he does in front of the camera for TOWIE.
‘I’m quite an intimidating person, I’ve got a lot of presence,’ he said. ‘What I will say, I think I’ve found my calling.
‘Even with TOWIE, I thought, “I don’t know if this is for me” but I think I’ve found my calling.
‘I think I could be going to the states very soon to take on whoever the top dog is right now, it doesn’t really matter.’
