Virgin River provided some perfect lockdown viewing recently when season two arrived on Netflix, and now star Martin Henderson has hinted at what fans can expect in the future.
The hit melodrama first arrived on Netflix last year and focuses on doctor Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge). The show saw her move to the sleepy Californian town on Virgin River following the tragic death of her husband and unborn baby.
During her time in the new town, she meets a handsome new love interest in ex Marine and bar owner Jack.
In shocking scenes, Jack’s future on the show was thrown into doubt during the finale of season two, when Mel discovered Jack lying on the floor of the bar after suffering a suspected gunshot wound.
Speaking about a potential third season of the hit show, the actor known for his role as Jack Sheridan spoke about where things could go next – and also shed some light on the cliffhanger ending from season two.
Speaking about the shocking moment, Martin told TV Line: ‘Who on Earth would have done that? By the end of the season, there are a few candidates.’
While Netflix is yet to officially confirm the drama’s return for a third season, Martin said he hoped the mystery would keep viewers hooked in future episodes.
He said the cliffhanger was a ‘nice, dramatic end to a season that leaves a lot of unanswered questions.’
Martin added: ‘If we haven’t done it with our performances up to that point, hopefully [this mystery] will go some ways to keep people tuned in for Season three.’
The programme struck a chord with audiences after season two arrived recently, racing up Netflix’s trending chart to number three in the UK back in November. Fans have also been captivated by the stunning landscapes online.
Here’s hoping we get official confirmation of season three soon.
