Who is Soccer Aid’s Masked Winger? All the clues to Whistle’s identity

Soccer Aid had an unexpected crossover with The Masked Singer as they revealed a surprise player would be taking part – the Masked Winger.

Dressed in a whistle costume, viewers were given clues to the player’s identity in the same vein as on The Masked Singer and Masked Dancer.

Viewers were treated to a VT full of clues as to the Masked Winger’s identity and took to Twitter to share their best guesses.

The identity of the player will be revealed later on in Soccer Aid, so fans won’t have too long to wait to find out whether they were right or not.

Until then, here are all the clues for the Masked Winger…

They’re going to blow away the competition

Could it be a musician, possibly of a wind instrument, behind the mask?

Running huge distances is no problem for them

This clue appears to point to it being a sportsperson, potentially an Olympian under the mask. Someone like Mo Farah would definitely leave the others in the dust.

The experience has been a Technicolour dream

There may be a connection to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in this clue – Jason Donovan, is that you?

Others who have donned the Technicolour Dreamcoat include Phillip Schofield, Ian ‘H’ Watkins from Steps and Darren Day among others.

They’re going to entertain the nation

Robbie Williams’ song Let Me Entertain You was heard playing in the background as this clue aired – could it be the singer (and Soccer Aid co-founder) Robbie under the Whistle?

Hair grease clue

There was a pot of hair grease visible on screen – meaning the Whistle could be someone who has starred in Grease.

Peter Andre is currently starring in Grease the musical so there’s a chance he is the mysterious boy beneath the mask.

Other clues include:

  • They have pitch fever
  • The numbers 123
  • They’re a copycat
